Pinar del Rio: Westward from Havana about 109 miles, this province is one of the most beautiful on the island, and it is here that some of the finest tobacco in the world is grown. There are famous mineral springs at San Diego de los Banos, and there is also the port of Mariel, where the Cuban Naval Academy is located. Under construction is Rancho Mundito, a tourist center in the Los Organos Mountains with an elevation of 2,000 feet. Clubhouse, hotel, cabanas, golf and tennis courts are there.

Camaguey: This capital city of Camagiiey province is on the Central Highway 354 miles from Havana and a busy international air junction. It is an important sugar industry center; a city of churches, the most notable of which are the Cathedral, San Francisco, Merced, Soledad, Carmen and La Caridad. It has an interesting colonial atmosphere preserved in the ancient houses of Moorish-influenced architecture. The Holy Week processions and Carnival Fiestas (in June) are popular here. There is good hunting. Hotels include the Colon, Gran, Plaza and Residencial.
