For golf, there are two, 18-hole golf courses near San Jose. First up is Cariai County Club, the only catch is you have to stay at Melia Cariai Conference Center. The second 18-hole golf course is Parque Valle del Sol in Santa Ana. There are also many golf courses throughout Costa Rica away from San Jose.
On the west coast, at the ritzy Marriot Los Suenos there’s a third 18-hole course carved out between lush rain forest mountains with great ocean views. Well kept, about $90. Remember, it rains often and hard. For all Costa Rican golf info, go to Costa Golf Adventures. Toll free: 1-877-258-2688 from US. ( www.golfcr.com)

Sport Fishing :
Costa Rica coasts offer some of the best Big Game Sport Fishing in the world, with fishing on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. Here you can catch Marlin, Wahoo, Tuna, Tarpon, Dorado, Snook, and Sailfish all year round. Costa Rica currently holds 18 world record catches.
Caught every month of the year, with mid-November to early March exceptional, then slowing a bit from April into early June when it picks up again, peaking in August and September.
Caught throughout the year, with May through August normally the top season. They may begin to thin out in September and the slowest months are from late August through November.
When all else fails, there are always tuna, any time of the year. More often than not when you’d just as soon avoid them to concentrate on billfish. The yellow fin and some big eye tuna are often found well inside the Santa Catalina Islands, 30 minutes or less running time from the beach, while schools of 12 to 20 pounders are usually abundant on the outside. You frequently find concentrations of 40 to 60 pound tuna, and there are plenty of the 200 to 400 pounders caught every year.
