Orcutt Ranch Horticulture Center Is Tucked Away At The West End Of The San Fernando Valley In West Hills. The 200-Acre Estate Was The Vacation Home Of William And Mary Orcutt, Dating Back To 1917. The Tree-Studded Estate, Designated As A Historical Monument, Was Purchased By The Los Angeles Parks And Recreation Department In 1966 And Opened To The Public. The Mission-Style Home With 16-Inch Thick Adobe Walls And A Large Patio Area Is Nestled Under The Shade Of Ancient Oaks, Including A 700-Year-Old Coastal Live Oak With A 33-Foot Circumference. Exotic Plants And Trees Are Planted On Several Acres Around The Former Residence. Amid The Fountains And Statues Are Rattan Palms, Cork Oaks, Dogwoods, Sycamores, Birch, Bunya Bunya Trees, Purple Lily Magnolias, Chinese Wisterias, Bamboo, And A Rose Garden. An Orchard Of Citrus And Walnut Groves Covers The Adjacent Rolling Hills.

To The Trailhead

From Highway 118 (Ronald Reagan Freeway) In Chatsworth, Take The Topanga Canyon Boulevard Exit. Drive 3.2 Miles South To Roscoe Boulevard And Turn Right. Continue 2 Miles To The Posted Park Entrance On The Left.

From Highway 101 (Ventura Freeway) In Woodland Hills, Drive 3.4 Miles North On Topanga Canyon Boulevard To Roscoe Boulevard And Turn Left. Continue 2 Miles To The Posted Park Entrance On The Left.

The Hike

From The Parking Area, Walk To The Parks And Recreation Adobe Buildings And The Orcutt Estate House. After Strolling Through The Patio Areas, Take The Nature Trail Into The Gardens. Dayton Creek Flows Through The South End Of The Gardens In A Lush Woodland. Along The Creek Are Foot Bridges, Statues And Benches. Design Your Own Route, Meandering Through The Historic Estate And Gardens. I
