Map of Rome

Stroll through Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, past the Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum, the Campus Martius, and the Colosseum. Next door to that, make reservations for the following day to visit the Domus Aurea, Nero’s underground palace. Have dinner at an outdoor restaurant in Trastevere, Testaccio, or near the Campo de’ Fiori, all of which have a number of open-air cafs for a drink. You could stay a month and not see everything here in the cradle of Western civilization, but at least make time to visit the Vatican Museums before you head south.
