It appears to provide more stability. Children on holiday are less likely to be moved from it, and biological parents appear to keep in closer contact with children, with percent visiting at least once a month and percent visiting four or more times a month; the comparable figures in nonrelative foster care are percent once a month and percent four or more times a month. In addition, abuse is less likely to be reported in kinship foster families than in nonrelative foster families. Some foster-care professionals have expressed concern that, in kinship foster homes, children may receive fewer services and may be exposed to the influences that created difficulties for the parent, but kinship foster homes do appear to provide greater stability, and children seem to have fewer problems there. Termination of Parental Rights In our country, the tie between biological parent and child is considered so important that it is severed only because the parent cannot meet his or her responsibilities to provide adequate care for the child for an extended period of time.
