When compared to mothers in other countries, American mothers put in almost the maximum number of hours in every sphere of activity, and fathers, while giving many hours to paid work, also do significant amounts of domestic work and child care. So, it is not surprising American families feel stressed. While American parents do have leisure time available to them, it is usually in small chunks so parents have to plan to use it wisely. Unfortunately, many parents use percent of their leisure to watch television that fails to bring a high degree of satisfaction. Everyday Negative Moods Minor daily hassles at work or with children contribute to parents negative moods that in turn affect parenting and children’s behavior.
