Map of Noblessneri

Map of Noblessneri for Part of the pleasure is noshing your way through the town’s caf s and restaurants. Cannobio’s campsites and an unusually good Lido beach (awarded an EU Blue Flag for cleanliness) as well as the fact that it is the first town inside Italy on the drive south from Switzerland attract many holidaying families from the north, especially German and Swiss-German; you’ll find that English is the third or fourth language here. The town’s only sight as such is the Santuario della Piet , a Bramante-inspired church beside the landing-stage with a curious openwork cupola, built to house a painting of the Piet which suddenly began to bleed in 1522. Val Cannobina Extending behind Cannobio, the wooded Val Cannobina offers beautiful views, little-visited stone-built hamlets and a clutch of good countryside restaurants. Buses climb high into the valley on one route to Falmenta, marooned in the jagged shadow of Monte Vad (1836m), and on another to Cursolo, from where a scenic seven-kilometre walk heads past Finero to Malesco in the Val Vigezzo, a stop on the Domodossola Locarno train line. Near Finero, Provola lies within the Parco Nazionale Val Grande (Wparcovalgrande.it), Italy’s largest protected wilderness area; lonesome trails head from here through beech woods in the upper Cannobina valley to a mountain hut at Alpe Uovo, just below the Bocchetta di Terza pass (1836m). The tourist office has details of many more walks, including along the Linea Cadorna, a well-preserved World War I defence line that snaked across the peaks from the Val d’Ossola down to Cannobio.
