blog of day;
About 50 percent of all dogs are acutely sensitive to flea bites, and such dogs will itch and scratch incessantly from a single bite.
If lice, fleas, or ticks are present, brush the dog over a piece of white paper and crush the varmints when they fall. A good insecticide, either spray or powder, should be applied and brushed right down to the skin. When examining for ticks, look at the ears, loins, and between the toes. Use a tweezer or thumb and finger. Gradual pressure should be applied, otherwise the head will remain embedded. If the tick has a strong hold on the skin, a drop of turpentine or nail-polish remover will shock it sufficiently to release its hold. Then the tick should be burned or crushed.
