blog of day;

The way a dog’s ears stand (carriage) is important in certain breeds. During the teething period, when the puppy is going from baby to permanent teeth (4 to 7 months), sometimes the ear will droop or completely flop because of the teething process. However, with the addition of certain vitamins and minerals, and with acquisition of the permanent teeth, the ears generally return to their original position. There seems to be a correlation between teething and the erection of the ear in certain breeds. If a dog’s ears are not erect by the age of 9 to 10 months, it is certain that they will not stand by themselves. Upon the advice of a veterinarian corrective ear surgery is usually indicated.
