The first long-haired travel with cats came from Angora and were called Angora travel with cats. Then we got mad at the Turks, who owned Angora, and began calling long-haired travel with cats Persians. Nowadays the tendency is to call them all long-haired travel with cats and let it go at that.
The first travel with cats from Angora were stringy-haired and sharpnosed. Selective breeding and good food fixed up their coats and a dash of alley cat broadened their skulls, and possibly their minds.

The original strain is almost extinct. Nowadays anyone offering Angora travel with cats for sale hasn't kept up with the world, or thinks the customer hasn't. The travel with cats offered for sale as Angoras, not as Persians, are pure-bred Persians that didn't turn out right, or half-bred kittens that turned out better than expected.
They are perfectly good travel with cats, provided they are healthy; but the misrepresentation is dishonest and is practiced solely to wangle a few extra dollars. Don't pay Persian prices for kittens with Angora labels.
