Margarite, the teens, and their families all agreed to that resolution. While Margarite initially left that school, she later returned and was in a class with the girl who sent the photo, but Margarite had called her to say she was returning, and the girl apologized again. At the family meeting with all the children and parents at the time of resolution, Margarite’s father with whom she lived said, I could say it was everyone else’s fault, but I had a piece of it, too. He recognized that his lack of involvement in her use of the phone and texting played a role in what happened. One of the teens who wrote public service messages advised parents to talk to their children, find out what they are doing with cell phones and texting, and have a dialogue so parents can express their feelings about the legal and social risks of media use and ways to minimize risks to teens reputations, and teens can express their feelings.
