Map of Kailali for Muralto Lanes lead back from the lakefront landing-stage into the contiguous urban district of Muralto, home to the Madonna del Sasso funicular station and one minute further Locarno’s train station. On the far side of the station, 100m east, rises the austere twelfth-century Romanesque basilica of San Vittore, built over a church first mentioned in the tenth century and now surrounded by housing developments. Medieval fresco-fragments inside and the Renaissance relief of St Victor on the bell tower are a diverting contrast to the trackside views. From here, a pleasant walk along the lungolago (lakefront promenade) leads back into town.
