ARRIVAL AND INFORMATION PAVIA By train There are regional trains that connect Milan to Pavia, although the S13 train line operated by Trenord is the most efficient way of travelling here. It connects a number of stations, including Milan Porta Garibaldi, Milan Repubblica and Milan Porta Venezia to Pavia (every 30min; 45min). The same train also connects the Certosa di Pavia to Pavia (every 30min; 8min). By bus Bus services from Milan Famagosta metro station drop you at the bus station round the corner from the train station in Pavia, on the western edge of the town centre. Destinations Certosa (every 30min; 10min); Milan Famagosta (every 30min; 37min); Linate airport (8 daily; 1hr). Tourist office In the Palazzo del Broletto, at Piazza della Vittoria in the centre of town (March Oct Mon Fri 9am 1pm & 2 5pm, Sat & Sun 10am 1pm & 2 6pm; Nov Feb Mon Fri 9am 1pm & 2 5pm, Sat & Sun 9am 1pm T0382 079 943, Wpaviaturismo.it). ACCOMMODATION Pavia’s hotels are a rather bland mix of business hotels and standard three-stars that tend to take the overspill from Milan’s commercial fairs, so finding somewhere appealing to stay can be more difficult than you might imagine.
