During the hot summer months the dog should travel mostly at night or early in the morning. This can be arranged with the airline or express company. Don’t ship the dog on weekends or over holidays; he might have to stay in the crate several extra days. The crate should be wire or else have a lot of open ventilation. The person on the receiving end should meet the dog and get him out of the crate promptly. The dog should then be given some cool water and a light meal and allowed to rest.
