Map of Capel Hendre

Map of Capel Hendre for Car ferries dock 100m to the south. The views from anywhere along the lakefront promenade westwards to the mountains above Cadenabbia are simply lovely; spending an afternoon watching the shadows lengthen, as the ferries parade to and fro, is pure Bellagio. The Borgo The central part of town the Borgo is tiny, laid out on a grid pattern; three streets parallel to the waterfront (Piazza Mazzini at the bottom, Via Centrale in the middle, Via Garibaldi at the top) are connected by seven perpendicular stepped alleyways. Via Garibaldi, the main shopping street, is a curious mix of touristy souvenirs, high-class silk outlets, and ordinary delis and pharmacies. Bellagio has more than its fair share of fey watercolourists. At the top of the town is the Romanesque church of San Giacomo, built at the end of the eleventh century, alongside a tower (in Piazza della Chiesa) which is all that’s left of Bellagio’s medieval defences. Across the square, at the head of the Salita Monastero steps, was once a monastic institution attached to the church, occupied since 1919 by the Bar Sport. Punta Spartivento A short stroll 350m north of the village centre brings you to the Punta Spartivento, the Point Which Divides the Winds, at the very tip of Bellagio’s promontory. There’s a little harbour here nice for a cool dip as well as a pleasant little restaurant from which to enjoy the unique panoramic vistas out over the lake and mountains. Map of Capel Hendre 2016.
