Another controversial facet is that of urinary stones and urethral obstruction. The latest research on this condition was reported in the April 1968 Journal of Small Animal Proceedings. Essential abstracts from this article state that There did not appear to be any association of the onset of the condition with age of castration. The ratio of castration to uncastrated travel with cats getting urinary obstruction is the same as the normal cat population. From this research we can see that there does not seem to be any difference between tomtravel with cats and altered travel with cats. Further, other research has shown that castration does not produce constriction of the urethra. Therefore, I feel a tomcat should be altered before he matures.
