Rickets is an abnormal development of the bones in growing kittens that didn’t get, or couldn’t assimilate, enough calcium and phosphorus.
Found kittens often have rickets. The symptoms are fairly easy to recognize: The cat’s forelegs are short and bowed. The wrist joints are enlarged, and there may be cartilaginous lumps, like small beads, along the junction of the ribs. The cat’s coat is dull; it is generally thin and flabby.
