Erdek for They give us access to the roots of our concerns. We could certainly survive without the intricate conceptual schemes that constitute theories. But we would have to give up much that we have come to take for granted. Science would end, as would philosophy. Our cultural life would become greatly impoverished. Many of our most practical affairs, such as agriculture and education, would cease to develop or would revert to quite primitive levels. A world without theory would be very different from the world we now inhabit. Erdek 2016.
